Making a real difference to
the lives of Axbridge people.
The Axbridge Action Group. Are you Interested in Getting Involved?
Who and what we do.
The Axbridge Action Group (AAG) is an established group of local people who care passionately about Axbridge and what it means to our residents. We are looking for likeminded residents to join our group and get involved with helping to support ideas and projects that can improve our everyday life.
Projects and plans.
Currently there are a range of community issues that the AAG would like to address. These include:
We need to develop more people friendly streets in and around Axbridge where people, not vehicles, have priority. We want residents and visitors to feel safe when walking or cycling within our town as well as on surrounding roads including Cross Lane and the By Pass.
The COVID 19 crisis has focussed the drive and goodwill from our community to connect with people in need which has highlighted that there are people in our town who need neighbourly care and support to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
We want to attract more visitors to our historic town by improving the streetscape, car parking and developing a heritage trail.
Axbridge Progressive Supper
The annual charity progressive supper starts and ends at the Oakhouse on the Square – and in between you will have a starter, main course and sweet at a different table across the town – plus a raffle with attractive prizes to be won.
Axe Vale Community Arts
This is a project to drive forward the development of an art centre for Axbridge and District using the Axbridge Methodist Church Building which ceased as a place of worship last year. There will soon be a dedicated charity for this but at present it is operating under the wings of AAG.
